Chico is a place like no other. And whether you grew up here, recently moved to the area or you’re just an occasional visitor, you know that Chico has its own special traditions and history that make it so unique.

A few things to know:

  • Chico is home to Bidwell Park, one of the largest municipal parks in the country. Stretching an impressive 3,670 acres, this expansive park offers an array of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking on scenic trails to swimming in the Sycamore Pool.
  • The city has a vibrant arts scene, anchored by the Chico Art Center. Located in the historic train depot, the Chico Art Center serves as a hub for artists and art lovers, offering galleries, workshops and other community events.
  • Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., one of the pioneers of craft brewing in the United States, was founded in Chico in 1980. This iconic brewery has become synonymous with Chico, offering tours and tastings that attract beer enthusiasts from around the globe.
  • The Chico Certified Farmers Market brings the community together with a bounty of local produce and artisan goods. Operating year-round, this market allows locals and visitors alike to connect with farmers, enjoy live music and experience the flavors of the region in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
  • Chico is home to the National Yo-Yo Museum, housing the world's largest public display of yo-yos and related memorabilia. Visitors and residents can stop by to see the massive Big-Yo, the world's largest working wooden yo-yo, or attend the annual National Yo-Yo Contest.
