Wildfire Mandatory Evacuations: Brentwood, Clayton Palms
"Due to a change in fire behavior please evacuate these areas now!"
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A series of wildfires that broke out Sunday morning took a dangerous turn Sunday night, with immediate mandatory evacuations ordered for Morgan Territory and Marsh Creek roads near Brentwood in Contra Costa County.
According to a tweet sent at 9:12 p.m. by East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, there has been a "change in fire behavior" prompting the urgent order to evacuate.
The mandatory evacuations cover residences along the length of Morgan Territory Road south to the Alameda County line and along Marsh Creek Road from Bragdon Way west to Deer Valley Road, approximately five miles. Among these homes are those in the Clayton Palms mobile home community off of Marsh Creek Road about three miles southwest of Brentwood.

UPDATE - Evacuees from the Marsh Creek and Morgan Territory area fires can go to either the Community Center in Brentwood at 34 Oak St or the Safeway parking lot in Clayton at this time

Cal Fire has named the complex of four fires the Deer Zone Fires, and about 400 acres have already been blackened, Cal Fire reported Sunday night.

No updates on acreage or containment were available as of Monday morning.
It's believed that lightning strikes early Sunday started the fires.
Fire crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District, and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District have also helped fight these fires.
No injuries have been reported.
