3 Drivers Arrested During DUI Checkpoint In Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA — Three drivers were arrested during a DUI checkpoint in Escondido, authorities said.

The checkpoint was held from 5:45 p.m. to 11:50 p.m. Saturday at Centre City Parkway and Decatur Way, according to the Escondido Police Department. A total of 738 motorists were contacted during the checkpoint.

Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and a third driver was arrested on suspicion of violating the terms of his DUI probation, authorities said. Police also cited 23 drivers for driving on a suspended license or not having a valid driver's license.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
