Five blood drives will be held at SDCCU branches in Encinitas, Escondido, San Diego and Santee. Another blood drive will take place in Murrieta.

SDCCU encouraged people to donate amid a "busy winter season." More than 30 hospitals rely on the San Diego Blood Bank every day, and with a shelf life of just 42 days, the constant need for new donations is critical, according to SDCCU.
