Colgate is Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society Pet This Week

Colgate cuddles.

Colgate is a 3-year-old, 29-pound, female, Pug mix. She was surrendered to a local shelter then transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through Friends of County Animal Shelters (FOCAS).

Colgate is not afraid to ask for attention. If you want kisses, she will give you kisses. If you just want her to sit on your lap, she will melt into you. When she’s not cuddling, she loves to play with her plush toys.

The $145 adoption fee for Colgate includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society.

Special note.

In less than two minutes, the temperature in a closed vehicle can become deadly. At high risk are pets, children, elderly people, people taking medication, people who have been ill, and overweight people.

If you see an overheated dog or person in a hot car, call out to see if the owner is nearby. If you’re at a store, ask them to make an announcement.

Call 9-1-1.

Get a witness. Shoot video or photos. Check to see if the police are nearby.

Take what action you feel is necessary, but before using excessive force, check to see if the door is unlocked, a window is open, or air conditioning is on.

Hot Paws. If it’s too hot for you to walk barefoot or hold your hand to the ground, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

See Rancho Coastal Humane Society’s heat danger demonstration coverage on CBS 8 and The CW.
