Fire Damages Garages At Apartment Complex In Escondido

The blaze did not spread to nearby apartments, fire officials said.

ESCONDIDO, CA — An early morning fire damaged multiple detached garages at an apartment complex Tuesday in Escondido.

A possible fire was reported at 1:45 a.m. in a row of detached garages at 2094 East Grand Ave., according to the Escondido Fire Department. The first arriving engine reported a single-story row of garages with smoke coming from several garage doors.

The fire extensively damaged one garage and spread to three other attached garages, Battalion Chief Brian Salazar said. The additional garages had minor damage.

"Aggressive action by the firefighters contained and controlled the fire in approximately 60 minutes," Salazar said.

The fire did not extend to any apartments, Salazar said. There were no injuries to firefighters or residents.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
