Flood Advisory Issued For Escondido

ESCONDIDO, CA — Morning showers prompted the National Weather Service to issue a flood advisory Monday for parts of the San Diego region.

The flood advisory was in effect until 8 a.m. Affected cities and communities included Borrego Springs, Carlsbad, Del Mar, Encinitas, Escondido, Fallbrook, Julian, Poway, Ramona, Santee, Valley Center and Vista.

Rainfall rates of 0.25 to 0.50 inch per hour occurred at times in the advisory area, according to the National Weather Service. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 1 inch was expected.

"This additional rain will result in minor flooding," forecasters said.

Weather officials warned motorists to avoid flooded roads.

"Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads," forecasters said. "Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles."
