Gusty Winds Forecast For Escondido: NWS Issues Advisory

Forecasters warned gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could also be blown down.

ESCONDIDO, CA — Santa Ana winds will bring gusty winds this weekend to the San Diego region.

A wind advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. Saturday to 4 p.m. Sunday for the county's mountains and valleys, including Escondido.

Northeast winds from 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph are expected directly below passes, according to the National Weather Service. Local wind gusts up to 65 mph are possible in wind-prone locations in the mountains, while wind gusts will be 35 to 45 mph in the valleys.

"Gusty east to northeast winds are expected through the weekend," NWS San Diego forecasters wrote Friday. "Winds look strongest on Saturday with a gradual weakening through the day Sunday. Periods of weaker northeast to east winds will continue early next week, especially on the mountain foothills."
