ESCONDIDO, CA — A heat wave was expected to bring hot weather to San Diego County Thursday and into the weekend.

The high temperatures prompted a heat advisory for the valleys, including the cities of El Cajon, Escondido, La Mesa, Poway, San Marcos and Santee. The advisory was in effect from noon Thursday until 7 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

A strong high pressure and offshore flow were expected to send temperatures between 90 to 100 degrees in the valleys, forecasters said.
