SAN MARCOS, CA — San Diego Humane Society's law enforcement officers are asking the public for help identifying three people suspected of abandoning a puppy at a convenience store in San Marcos.

In a release, the Humane Society said the abandoned puppy was first spotted by a customer at the Circle Mart at 202 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos on May 24. The store's cashier called the Humane Society and reported the 6- to 7-week-old Chihuahua puppy was wet, lethargic, malnourished and cold.

A humane officer responded and took the puppy to the Humane Society, where medical workers determined her health was too poor and euthanasia was required.
