Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash In Escondido

The motorcyclist​ was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he died, according to the California Highway Patrol.

ESCONDIDO, CA — An East County man was killed after crashing his motorcycle into a car in Escondido, authorities said Monday.

Craig Arthur Jameson, 62, of La Mesa died from multiple blunt force injuries, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jameson was riding a 2017 Yamaha FZ09 motorcycle, eastbound on Highland Valley Road, east of Bandy Canyon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. At the same time, a 2019 Toyota Camry, was entering Highland Valley Road from a driveway at a private residence.

"As the Toyota was exiting the driveway in front of the motorcyclist, the motorcycle rider steered right to avoid a crash, but was unsuccessful, and the motorcycle crashed into the right front bumper of the Toyota," CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said.

Jameson was ejected from the motorcycle, Grieshaber said. Both he and the bike landed north of the northern edge of Highland Valley Road.

Jameson was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he died, Grieshaber said. The driver of the car, a 20-year-old man from San Marcos, was not injured in the crash.

Jameson was wearing a helmet when he crashed, according to the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash, Grieshaber said.
