Emanate Health Foundation’s 30th Annual Gala Scheduled, Oct. 19

Proceeds to Help Fund Expansion of Emergency Care at Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina

WEST COVINA, Calif. – With a hand in the past and an eye toward the future, Emanate Health Foundation will step back in time to recall a “Speakeasy” from the infamous Roaring 20s at its 30th Annual Autumn Nocturne, October 19, at the Pacific Palms Resort in the City of Industry. Proceeds from the event will support the health system’s many programs and services, which includes the expansion of the Emergency Department at Queen of the Valley Hospital (QVH). “Look for gangsters, flappers and silent movie stars to sashay across the dance floor as we capture the spirit of a Prohibition-era speakeasy at this year’s Autumn Nocturne event,” said Emanate Health Foundation CEO Michelle Stoddard. “We look back 100 years for the theme of our biggest fundraiser of the year to help create excitement and anticipation for what we believe will be a memorable evening to support life-saving programs at Emanate Health for the future.”

Like the speakeasies of a century ago, Autumn Nocturne attendees will need a secret password to enter the event, which can be attained by emailing [email protected] and waiting for the secret word to quietly arrive. The event will feature a hosted reception, fine dining, a live and silent auction, and plenty of dancing. Emanate Health Foundation will publicly recognize Physicians of the Year, Dr. Kevin Hua of Inter-Community Hospital, Dr. Chi Truong of Queen of the Valley Hospital, and Dr. Sophia S. Kangarlu of Foothill Presbyterian Hospital.

“At Emanate Health, we’re thankful to attract the best-trained and most talented doctors in the industry because of the patient-first culture in our hospitals, the state-of-the-art technology that helps to enhance patient outcomes and the commitment of our staff,” said Emanate Health President & CEO Rob Curry. “Our notable physicians exemplify the very best that our health system has to offer to the people of the San Gabriel Valley.”

The highlight of the evening promises to be the story chronicling the journey of a young patient who received life-saving care from Emanate Health doctors, nurses, clinicians and staff in the Emergency Department at QVH, which illustrates the need to expand emergency care in our region.

The West Covina Planning Commission recently approved the environmental impact report for the expansion of the QVH Emergency Department. The project requires final City Council approval before breaking ground sometime in 2020.
