GLENDORA, CA —An urban and small stream flood advisory was released for east central Los Angeles County in southwestern California until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service reported heavy rain occurring across eastern Los Angeles County from about Monrovia to Azusa and southwest to Downey.

Rain rates up to half an inch per hour created the possibility of ponding of water on freeways and flooding of low-lying areas.

Brief periods of heavy rain, small hail, and lightning were possible in the flood advisory area.

"Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots," the NWS said.

Remember, avoid driving through flooded channels. Turn around, don't drown.
