Free COVID-19 Vaccinations Coming to West Covina, Nov. 13

COVINA, Calif. — Emanate Health, the largest health care system in the San Gabriel Valley, today announced that it will host a free Children’s COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic and a free Community Flu Shot Clinic on the same day, November 13, 2021, in West Covina to promote wellness in the community.

“A 100-year global pandemic overlapping with the seasonal flu has created the potential of a "twindemic"—or two dangerous respiratory ailments crossing pathways simultaneously,” said Emanate Health CEO Robert H. Curry. “We felt the need to immediately provide first-time COVID-19 vaccinations to school children, while offering additional flu shots for the entire family on the same day at the same location.”

Late Tuesday, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, agreed with the recommendation of an advisory panel of experts to make the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine available to 28 million children in the United States. Children ages 5-11 can now safely receive one-third of the vaccine dose that adults and teens 12 years and up currently get. With the approval, Emanate Health elected to add a children’s COVID-19 vaccine clinic to a previously scheduled community flu shot clinic.

Both clinics will be held at the Emanate Health Care Center, located in the Medical Arts Building I, 1135 S. Sunset Ave. in West Covina, adjacent to the Emergency Department at Queen of the Valley Hospital. The free COVID-19 clinic will be held in Suite 401 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and free flu shot clinic will be held in Suite 200 from 8 a.m. to Noon.
