Ono Hawaiian BBQ Celebrates Spam Day With Half-Off Deal In SGV

SAN GABRIEL VALLEY, CA — Ono Hawaiian BBQ, a restaurant that prides itself on authentic islands cuisine, is celebrating that most famous of canned meats — Spam — with a half-off special on Monday, Aug. 8.

Patrons using code ONOSPAM can score Spam Musubis at half price for National Spam Musubi Day. The offer is only for in-app or online orders at eateries, including throughout the San Gabriel Valley.

"Whether you are a lifelong lover of Spam or are just curious about trying it, there is no better time to try it than on National Spam Musubi Day," the company said.

Spam has ranked as a staple in Hawaiian cuisine since the 1940s. And Spam Musubi, Spam and rice wrapped in a band of seaweed, is a best-seller at Ono Hawaiian BBQ, according to management.

“Spam Musubi is one of our most popular items and we wanted to celebrate National Spam Musubi Day with a special 50 percent off deal, so come out and enjoy a taste of aloha,” said Joshua Liang, the chain's chief executive officer.

Founded in 2002 in Southern Califonia, Ono Hawaiian BBQ melds Hawaiian, Japanese, Korean and American flavors and operates 101 restaurants in California and Arizona.

Along with Spam Musubi, the menu features Kalbi short ribs, Kalua pork with cabbage, grilled Spam and eggs, "Plate Lunch" options and "Keiki Meals" for the little ones.
