Pair Killed in Glendora Fiery Crash Identified

Jorge Abarca-Ramos, 41, of El Monte, and Viridiana Salinas-Rivera, 24, of Pasadena, died at the scene of the crash on the 210 freeway.

Authorities on Thursday identified a man and woman who were killed when their pickup truck was rear-ended by another pickup truck on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway in Glendora.

Jorge Abarca-Ramos, 41, of El Monte, and Viridiana Salinas-Rivera, 24, of Pasadena, died at the scene of the crash, which occurred near Lone Hill Avenue about 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, according to the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.

Salinas-Rivera was driving a 1995 Toyota pickup truck in the No. 1 lane and was slowing down or stopping behind a 2015 Hyundai Sonata that was slowing down when the Toyota was rear-ended by a 2008 Ford F-350 pickup truck, the CHP reported.

“Due to the force of the impact, the Toyota was pushed to the left and stuck the center divider wall,” the CHP reported. “The Ford continued forward in the No. 1 lane and subsequently collided with the rear end of the Hyundai.”

A second passenger in the Toyota survived, and was hospitalized with major injuries. The driver of the Hyundai also suffered major injuries, and a passenger suffered moderate injuries, as did the driver of the Ford.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision, the CHP reported.

All freeway lanes were closed briefly in both directions to allow a medical helicopter to land, and some lanes remained closed until early afternoon.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP Baldwin Park Area office at (626) 338-1164.
