GLENDORA, CA — There is little more satisfying than hanging out in a restaurant with others enjoying food, friends and futbol. Patch has hunted around to find some great local spots near you sporting the games on live broadcast.

The Belgium-Brazil 2018 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal will be shown live Friday at many establishments across the Southland.

About the games:

Belgium advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 victory over Japan in a round of 16 game Monday, becoming the first team to overcome a two-goal second-half deficit in a World Cup knockout stage game since 1970.

Brazil defeated Mexico, 2-0, in a round of 16 game Monday, reaching the quarterfinals for the seventh consecutive World Cup.

Belgium was among three teams to complete group play undefeated and untied, along with Croatia and Uruguay. Its plus-seven goal differential was the best in group play and its nine goals the most.

Brazil won Group E with a 2-0-1 record. Brazil has held its opponents scoreless for the past 310 minutes and allowed just one goal in the tournament.

Belgium, known as the Red Devils, is in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive World Cup. The only time it advanced past the quarterfinals was in 1986 when it finished fourth.

Brazil has advanced to the semifinals four of the past six World Cups, winning the championship in 1994 and 2002 and finishing second in 1998. It finished fourth in the 2014 World Cup. Its teams led by Pele won the World Cup in 1958, 1962 and 1970.

Brazil is second in the rankings compiled by FIFA, soccer's international governing body. Belgium is ranked third.

The Belgium-Brazil winner will advance to a semifinal Tuesday against the winner of the France-Uruguay quarterfinal that will be played earlier Friday. The loser will be eliminated.
