Young Azusa Father Mourned By Friends And Family

The 25-year-old man was killed when the car he was a passenger in collided with a fuel pump in Azusa. He leaves behind a beloved 3-year-old.

AZUSA, CA — Robert Ventura Jr. passed away early Sunday morning at the scene of a single-car collision in Azusa.

"Robert was a loving father, brother, son and friend to many people," loved ones said on his GoFundMe page, established to raise funds for funeral expenses, and the needs of his beloved 3-year-old daughter.

He went through a lot, family members said, but his life changed for the better when his daughter was born.

Early Sunday morning, the Honda Fit where Ventura Jr. was a passenger collided into a gas station fuel pump for unknown reasons, police said.

"The driver was hospitalized and was in serious condition," Azusa Police Lt. Robert Landeros said. The driver's name has not been released.

Alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the crash, according to Landeros.
