1 Dead In Fiery 101 Freeway Crash

A speeding SUV crashed and caught fire near Melrose Avenue Friday morning, causing an hours-long ramp closure.

The single-car crash happened just before 4 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway at Ardmore Avenue and Marathon Street near the Melrose Avenue off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.

LOS ANGELES, CA —An fiery crash on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Melrose Avenue killed one person Friday morning, and shut down portions of the freeway for hours.

The single-car crash happened just before 4 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway at Ardmore Avenue and Marathon Street near the Melrose Avenue off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol. A white sports utility vehicle traveling at high speeds crashed and caught fire, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The person was taken to a hospital where they were pronounced dead.
