HOLLYWOOD, CA — A water main break triggered a sinkhole in the Hollywood Hills early Monday morning, and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were working to repair the damage.

The work was expected to continue into the afternoon, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The problem was first reported at about 5 a.m. in the 6500 block of Cahuenga Terrace.

An 8-inch, cast-iron water main burst, affecting service to 16 customers. The damage caused a portion of the street to collapse in an area that has been repeatedly affected by busted water mains, CBSLA reported.

DWP officials did not have an exact estimate for when the repair work would be completed.
