DUI Checkpoint Slated For Hollywood
Los Angeles police have several DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols planned across the city through the holidays.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The Los Angeles Police Department will be out in force this holiday season with a blitz of DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols to catch intoxicated drivers.
With the holiday celebrations every year, come an uptick in crashes and fatalities linked to impaired driving in Los Angeles. In an effort to save lives and curb intoxicated driving, the LAPD Is publicizing its campaign to catch drunken drivers.
"The holidays are a special time of year for many, and we want drivers to act responsibly," said Cptn. Jay Hom, Commanding Officer of the South Traffic Division. "This enforcement period allows us to get the message out that driving impaired is an illegal, senseless behavior that takes lives.”

The extra enforcement effort is part of a national campaign, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, with the goal of stopping suspected impaired drivers who put others on the road at risk, according to an LAPD written statement.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 11,654 people were killed in car crashes nationwide in 2020 that involved an alcohol-impaired driver, or one person every 45 minutes."
