Hit-And-Run Driver Who Seriously Injured Pedestrian Sought By Police: LAPD

Police are searching for the driver suspected of seriously injuring a pedestrian who was walking in a Hollywood crosswalk.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Police are searching for a driver suspected of seriously injuring a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Police Department announced Thursday.

The crash happened on Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. when a black or dark gray Ford F-150 that was traveling westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard hit a pedestrian who was crossing within a crosswalk, the LAPD said.

The pedestrian was walking from the south curb of Santa Monica Boulevard, west of St. Andrews Place in East Hollywood, police said.

The driver fled the scene, driving westbound on Santa Monica toward Wilton Place. The driver was required to identify themself and render aid to the pedestrian under the law, police said.

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian, a 44-year-old Los Angeles-area resident, to a local hospital for treatment. The victim is recovering from "severe injuries to their face, torso and legs," police said.

The city has a standing award of up to $25,000 for anyone who provides information leading to a hit-and-run offenders identification, apprehension and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
