HOLLYWOOD, CA — "Beverly Hills, 90210" alum Ian Ziering is calling on Los Angeles officials to crack down on "lawlessness" and "hooliganism" after he was involved in a brawl with a group of mini-bike riders in Hollywood this week.

The altercation occurred Sunday afternoon near Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue; police responded to reports of a fight that broke out after a group of people riding motorized mini bikes were driving recklessly, KTLA reported. TMZ captured video of the incident, which appears to show Ziering and the bikers shoving and punching each other.

Ziering, 59, appears to aggress one of the bikers toward the start of the video before the other bikers start beating the actor as he runs to a sidewalk in the busy tourist district.

"While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation," Ziering wrote in a Monday Instagram post. "In an attempt to assess any damage I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself."

Ziering was listed as the victim in the incident in a report filed by the Los Angeles Police Department. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made, TMZ reported.

Ziering wrote that he and his daughter "are both completely unscathed."

"The incident has left me deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace. This situation highlights a larger issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses to such behavior," he wrote. "As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient."

He continued, urging city officials and law enforcement to "take decisive action against such lawlessness and provide the necessary resources to prevent future occurrences."

Ziering rose to fame for his 10-season role as Steve Sanders on "Beverly Hills, 90210." Over the last two decades he has made guest appearances on numerous series, was a contestant in "Dancing with the Stars," and starred in all six of the made-for-TV "Sharknado" films.
