LOS ANGELES, CA — Memorial Day has finally arrived, promising a much-needed break, burger and trip to the beach to kick off the unofficial start of the summer. But will the weather in Los Angeles allow for an outdoor barbecue?

LA will see some gloomy weather leading up to the holiday, with highs in the low 70s Saturday. Temperatures will remain in the low 70s throughout the region.

The clouds will remain but the temperatures will rise just in time for Memorial Day in Los Angeles. AccuWeather forecasts a high of 75 on Monday.

But don’t forget to pack sunscreen. The ultraviolet index level for the greater Los Angeles area will sit at [11] Sunday and Monday, meaning a fair-skinned person could suffer a sunburn in about four minutes if not protected.

Planning on heading to the beach? The rip current is predicted to be moderate with 2-4 foot waves and no thunderstorm potential. The water will be cold, around 61-64 degrees Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service for Los Angeles and Oxnard.
