NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA — If you haven't yet voiced your opinion on the proposed North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Project, L.A. Metro still wants to hear from you. Metro announced Monday that the public comment period for the project will be extended until December 28.

Metro officials said because the original comment period was overshadowed by the 2020 election and the start of the holiday period, they wanted to give stakeholders more time to speak up.

The department has held two virtual public hearings to provide information and receive feedback on the $267 million, 18-mile project. Officials will continue to take in feedback online, by phone, email and mail.

"The area between North Hollywood and Pasadena is one of the most heavily traveled corridors in L.A. County without premium transit service," said Lilian De Loza Gutierrez with Metro Communications.

Metro plans to build a Bus Rapid Transit line that would connect the San Fernando and San Gabriel Valleys. The line would travel east-west between the North Hollywood Red and Orange Line Station and Pasadena City College, with stops in Burbank, Glendale, and Eagle Rock.

According to Metro, Bus Rapid Transit is faster and more reliable than regular bus service. The program aims to improve access to jobs, schools and recreation with well-placed destinations and a larger transit network.

"BRT can help us take cars off the road, and serve neighborhoods that need public transit service the most," said Tito Corona of Metro Communications.
