Mulholland Drive Speed Bumps Planned To Curb Racing, Speeding

A dozen speed bumps placed along the curvy mountain road should help slow speeding drivers and curb street racing, officials say.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — In an effort to curb unsafe driving on Mulholland Drive, city crews will install a dozen speed bumps on the curvy mountain road in the coming months, Los Angeles officials said.

"Safety concerns from residents due to racing, speeding and unsafe driving on Mulholland Drive can be dealt with most effectively through physical speed mitigation," according to the LA Department of Transportation.

Four speed humps were planned for installation on Nov. 9 at the Dona Pegita Turns.

Additional speed-bump installation will take place before March 9, with exact dates to be disclosed:

  • Four humps near the Universal City Overlook
  • Two humps at the hairpin turn between Multiview and Woodrow Wilson drives
  • Two humps at the hairpin turn at 7456 Mulholland Drive, east of Woodrow Wilson Drive

The speed bump installation comes as the city is exploring other traffic fixes on Mulholland Drive, including a roundabout.
