LOS ANGELES, CA — The Southland will endure cool temperatures through the weekend along with a slight chance of local showers and snow in the mountains.

A mild storm system is expected to move in late Thursday, bringing a slight chance of showers on Friday, followed by a stronger storm Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. The rain is expected to be negligible with no more than a quarter-inch expected in Los Angeles County. Through the end of the week, temperatures are forecast to hover in the low 60s along the Los Angeles County coast and reach the mid to upper 60s Downtown and in the San Fernando Valley.

On Friday, "rainfall amounts, if any, look to be quite light, generally under one-tenth of an inch," according to the weather service. "As for snow levels, expect them to remain rather high, around 6500 to 7000 feet. Along with the possibility of light showers, there will be some gusty northerly winds across the area which could approach advisory levels in the mountains."
