What's New On Netflix: August 2023

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Looking for an escape from the soaring temperatures? Look no further and head over to Netflix land for some respite, where you can enjoy a brand-new slate of exciting offerings sure to beat the summer heat.

This August, Netflix welcomes the premiere of the much-anticipated film, “Heart of Stone,” a spy thriller about the mysterious MacGuffin known as “The Heart.” Gal Gadot plays Rachel Stone, a secret agent tasked with a mission to keep the object safe at all costs. Jamie Dornan, Alia Bhatt and Matthias Schweighöfer also star in the movie.

Have you heard of the legend of the Monkey King? If not, no worries! The animated feature “The Monkey King” will make its streaming debut this month. And for sure, fans of the 500-year-old tale are dying to find out if the movie remains faithful to the story.

When it comes to the Netflix original shows, several are making their way to the streaming platform this month, including “One Piece,” a live-action series based on Eiichiro Oda’s same-name manga (Japanese comic book), as well as “Painkiller,” a stirring drama about America’s opioid crisis.

The 50th anniversary of hip-hop music takes place this August, and Netflix celebrates the golden milestone with the release of “Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop,” a four-part docu-series honoring the crucial role women have played in the genre for the past five decades.

Get excited, “Heartstopper” fans! The young-adult series is set to make your hearts flutter — again, as it returns for Season 2 this month. Meanwhile, fans of “Lincoln Lawyer” can finally watch the conclusion of Season 2.
