Woman Burned After Vacant Hollywood Building Catches Fire Again

Officials are weighing whether the building, the site of several previous fires, needs to be demolished due to safety concerns.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — One woman was hospitalized for burns she sustained when a vacant Sunset Boulevard building caught fire Tuesday morning, the latest in several fires to break out at the structure, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to 6920 Sunset Blvd. at around 6:30 a.m., where they found heavy fire showing in the two-story building, firefighters said.

It took 45 firefighters about a half hour to knock down the flames in the building.

Firefighters and city Building and Safety Department officials were on scene to evaluate the building for demolition due to safety concerns, according to the LAFD.

Sunset Boulevard was closed between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive following the fire, according to the LAFD.
