  1. Constitution Drive Shooting Update: We recently talked about the shooting in the 10000 block of Constitution Drive that led to the temporary lockdown of two schools. We learned Friday that the venue where the incident occurred “is being used as a rehabilitation facility for the past several years, with only minor parking and noise problems taking place.” There may have been two women and two men involved. (HB News)
  2. The in-person Black History Month Cultural Cinema Showcase is this Thursday. The films have already played on HBTV channel 3 and virtually. The in-person event includes speakers. Come to the Huntington Beach Central Library Theater at 6 p.m. (Event Brite)
  3. Saturday’s Huntington State Beach color run was a success! There were foam zones where canons shot suds. There were clouds of colors. And, there was an after-party with more color powders. “The color powder used is non-toxic, made with a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and dyes.” (The OCR/paywall)
  4. Have you visited Stumpy’s Hatchet House at 7225 Edinger Avenue yet? The franchise opened three months ago, in part because its operators felt that it was a good fit for HB. “Located in a former mattress store off Edinger Avenue, near the Bella Terra shopping center, Stumpy’s Hatchet House Huntington Beach boasts nine “pits” for groups or individuals to throw axes at wooden targets just a few feet away.” The venue welcomes nonprofit fundraisers! (Orange Coast)
  5. Did electricity cause the Wintersburg property fire? In addition to “at least one individual possibly living on the property,” officials said Friday that “a second potential cause is due to the Wintersburg property being electrified at the time of the fire.” This was likely done illegally by “tapping into a nearby power source, bypassing the electric meter.” (Surf City Break)
