  1. What should the City do with the pipeline that leaked and caused a December oil spill? We learned Saturday that eight conservation groups have spoken out against “plans to repair and restart a broken pipeline.” While they’re asking for “the retirement and decommissioning of DCOR’s pipeline 0919,” the State Lands Commission is weighing plans to restart it. (Sierra Sun Times)
  2. The City celebrated its 113th birthday on Thursday. It was incorporated “this day in 1909 under its first Mayor, Ed Manning.” She looks great for her age! (@CityofHBPIO)
  3. The Best of Huntington Beach is coming up Thursday. It will take place at the Central Park Senior Center. “Attendees will have the opportunity to network with our members & nominees, as well as enjoy a dinner by Love at First Bite Catering.” Please be sure to reserve some tickets. (Chamber of Commerce)
  4. Selling Girl Scout Cookies door to door works best when you know that people are home. And the great-granddaughter of former Mayor Ernest Gisler figured that Super Bowl Sunday is one such day. The nine-year-old went around the Hope View Elementary School Tract. At this point, she’s halfway to her goal of selling 1,600 boxes. (HB News)
  5. The Lion’s Club is hosting its 22nd Crabfest. The event will be held on March 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the HB Senior Center. It is a fundraiser that benefits “local charities and organizations, including Robyne's Nest, Therapeutic Riding Center of Huntington Beach, Orange County Special Olympics, BSA Troop 319.” (HB CommUNITY Voice)
