  1. The service for fallen HB Police Officer Nicholas Vella will be today at 10 a.m. The city will livestream the somber event on YouTube. “The public is invited to attend a procession for Vella that will go through the City of Huntington Beach.” It begins at 7 a.m. and goes along Goldenwest Street between Yorktown Avenue and PCH, PCH between Goldenwest Street and Magnolia Avenue, Magnolia Avenue between PCH and Talbert Avenue, and Talbert Avenue between Magnolia Avenue and Brookhurst Street. (KNX News)
  2. On Monday morning, there was a two-car collision at the intersection of Yorktown Avenue and Newland Street. Two motorists had to be extricated. It is interesting to note that “logos on the side of one of the pickup trucks involved in the crash indicated that it was a Hunting Beach city vehicle.” Social media posts claim that “one of the victims was a student at Edison High School.” (CBS)
  3. The Agnes L Smith School at 770 17th Street participated in The Great Kindness Challenge. In this spirit, the Student Senate planned a sock drive. On Monday, these students let us know that “all socks were delivered to a local youth shelter, and they were greatly appreciative.” This is the way! (Smith School)
  4. Do you ever wonder what’s going on at a beach cleanup? On Saturday, a group of volunteers showed up, among them the folks from Kahana Feld, and collected trash. Everyone “collectively cleared the beach of 25 pounds of trash!” (@KahanaFeld)
  5. It’s time for Irish Fest at the Biergarten! Starting Saturday, “the restaurant will be serving Irish stew and corned beef & cabbage along with festive cocktails.” Park off Center Avenue. (Patch)
