  1. The retail center located at 15031 Goldenwest Street is changing hands. β€œA local private investor” bought the Goldenwest & Bolsa property for $23.5 million, a report on Friday revealed. β€œAt the time of sale, the property was 95.4 percent leased to a mix of daily needs and internet-resistant tenants.” (Rebusiness Online)
  2. On Thursday, we noticed firefighters using the Rodgers Senior Center at 1706 Orange Avenue for training purposes. The building, which will soon be torn down, was perfect for cutting holes in the roof and practicing all the other things they need to know. β€œThe Rodgers location allows crews to practice their skills on older type of construction that is common in the downtown area. The crews will attempt to rotate through, depending on call volume and other daily responsibilities.” (Sun News)
  3. There was a wrong-way crash on PCH Thursday morning. According to eyewitnesses, β€œa vehicle traveling westbound suddenly drove over the center median and into the eastbound lanes, followed by a police pursuit.” Even after colliding with a vehicle, the driver refused to exit the car until 10 to 15 minutes passed. (HB News)
  4. On Wednesday, Save Surf City volunteers delivered recall signatures to city hall. They needed 13,352 per city council member. They got 14,295 for Kim Carr, 14,010 for Dan Lamick, and 13,966 for Michael Posey. The Orange County Registrar of Voters now has 30 days to verify that the signatures came from registered HB voters. (Channel 33)
  5. There was a hazardous materials alert Friday afternoon at John Wayne Airport. American Airlines personnel noticed β€œleaking baggage” while unloading a jet coming from Chicago. A hazmat investigation is ongoing. (Patch)
