  1. A shoutout to Chris and Katy Roulette! While on the way to Valentine’s Day date night, they stopped at a gas station when a woman came “out of the bathroom screaming for help.” She had found her 22-year-old son unresponsive inside after an overdose. The Roulettes sprang into action, alerted first responders, and performed CPR. They were able to revive the young man! (HB News)
  2. An HBPD helicopter en route to a “disturbance fight call” crashed into the ocean off Newport Beach on Saturday. The incident took place around 6:30 p.m. near El Paseo Street. A 14-year veteran officer was killed. A 16-year veteran officer was injured. Private security footage shows “the helicopter struggling to maintain height before spiraling out of control.” The PD has grounded its helicopter fleet for inspection. (CBS)
  3. We recently learned that anti-Semitic flyers were left in a cul-de-sac. Elected officials have spoken out strongly against the messages, but attention to the issue waned. On Sunday, the HBPD announced that there were “anti-Semitic flyers distributed to a neighborhood in southeast Huntington Beach.” (The situation is still developing.) (@HBPoliceDept)
  4. Organizers announced that the Huntington Beach Open (beach volleyball) is coming back on November 12 and 13. These dates make it one of the last stops of the current season. The prize purse is $50,000 with a 24-team main draw event format. (AVP)
  5. If you’re looking for a place to practice yoga on the beach or in a park, you now have three options. There’s Yoga on the Beach at 14th and PCH, Namaste Family Yoga at Farquhar Park, and Yoga in Huntington Beach Central Park. Check out their days and times! (Surf City USA)
