  1. On Wednesday, the volunteers from Save Surf City took the final boxes of signed petitions to the City for official counting. The group gave a shoutout to all those who helped them gather signatures and get the word out. "There were no 'major donors', just concerned locals that gave their precious money and time to ensure our beloved suburban beach community would remain a safe town for generations to come." (Save SurfCity)
  2. Former Santana singer, and current evangelist, Leon Patillo recently attended a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at Refuge Calvary. There were 150 church members present who were able to listen to Patillo sing, “Dance Children Dance.” A Wednesday report noted that the evangelist visited at his friend’s request. (Sun News)
  3. We also learned Wednesday that the March 17 permit hearing for the Poseidon Water desalination plant is “being postponed at the company’s request.” Insiders cite ongoing disagreements with state regulators about mitigation. “The hearing slated for next month is now expected in May.” (OCR/paywall)
  4. Authorities said Sunday that a “pilot reported mechanical issues shortly before a police helicopter crashed nose-first” into the ocean. The pilot first reported mechanical issues and then called again to report that he was going to crash. “The cause of the crash will be determined at the end of the NTSB’s investigation, which could take 12 to 18 months.” (KTLA)
  5. A Monday report revealed that the city is seriously discussing whether “to legalize retail and wholesale distribution of cannabis.” Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Mike Posey said that tax revenues could be as high as $500,000 or more annually. However, no decision has been reached, and the topic will likely undergo more discussion in the next City Council meetings. (HBN)
