The City said goodbye to its fallen officer. Also, the Irvine PD is investigating the crash that happened yesterday. Finally, a new Target will open at Garfield and Beach.

  1. HB neighbors lined the streets early this morning to honor fallen HBPD Officer Nicholas Vella. A memorial service was held at the Honda Center with “thousands of friends, relatives, and co-workers” in attendance. (Fox 11)
  2. Update On The Newland/Yorktown vehicle accident: We learned Monday night that the car crash resulted in two fatalities. Two brothers, “both students at Edison High School were killed.” The city-owned Chevrolet Silverado was driven by a 38-year-old man who wasn’t hurt. “‘I am so sorry to hear about the tragic traffic collision that took place this morning,’ Huntington Beach Mayor Barbara Delgleize said in a statement.” The Irvine PD is investigating the accident because it involves a city-owned vehicle.   3. On April 3, Target will celebrate the grand opening of its new store at Garfield and Beach. The 19041 Beach Boulevard store offers you 34,000 square feet of shopping opportunities. Another store will be opening in Costa Mesa and is currently hiring staff. (HB News)
  4. The crews at the I-405 Improvement Project are making progress. Drivers should be aware of northbound I-405 closures beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and running to about 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Freeway ramps will also be closed. (I-405 Improvement Project)
