100+ Citations Over Weekend Given Thanks To Laguna Beach Police

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A multi-agency task force put together by the Laguna Beach Police Department led its second operation of the year this weekend, focusing on speed violations, e-bikes and loud exhaust and modified vehicle emissions systems.

The task force that deployed Saturday included personnel from the police departments of Newport Beach and Santa Ana, the Orange County Sheriff's Department and the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

The operation led to 101 vehicle citations for violations including loud exhaust, emissions and speeding according to the department. Five drivers were also cited for being unlicensed or driving on a suspended license.

"Speed and loud exhaust violations continue to compromise the safety and quality of life of our residents," said LBPD Chief Jeff Calvert. "Consequently, we are left with no choice but to take a zero-tolerance approach to enforcement."

Calvert said that the joint enforcement operations would continue through the end of the year.
