LAGUNA NIGUEL, CA — Summer is almost over for Capistrano Unified public school students. The first day of school in the Capistrano Unified School District is Tuesday, Aug. 20.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for the 2024-25 year for schools including Dana Hills High School, Laguna Niguel Elementary, San Juan Hills High and more.

- Rosh Hashanah (unassigned day): Oct. 3
- Veterans Day: Nov. 11
- Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 25-29
- Winter Break: Dec. 23 -Jan. 3
- Semester begins: Jan. 6
- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Jan. 20
- Presidents Day: Feb. 17
- Cesar Chavez Day (unassigned day): March 31
- Spring Break: April 7-11
