WILDOMAR, CA — After a year’s break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Santa Rosa Plateau Nature Education Foundation and the city of Wildomar are bringing back the second annual "Rooted in Nature Craft Brew Festival."

To be held Oct. 16 at Wildomar's Marna O’Brien Park, the festival will benefit the foundation's youth nature education programs.

“It’s time that our Valley take the lead to bring back a major craft beer celebration, and, if so, then let it be of benefit to a nonprofit that has as its roots in a natural and important environmental mission,” the foundation's Executive Director Ginger Greaves said.

The Santa Rosa Plateau Nature Education Foundation serves over 10,000 youth from 10 school districts in Southwest Riverside County, according to Greaves.

The daylong festival will celebrate "the natural craft and cultural evolution of specialty beers"; attendees can enjoy a wide variety of award-winning beer offerings from over 25 "guest" breweries, organizers said.

"A unique component of the guest breweries will be the inclusion of the growing local homebrewer offerings," according to organizers.

Touted as a family-friendly event, attendees will also enjoy live music, craft beer-related exhibitors, a silent auction, and a family wildlife park area with activities and exhibits related to the natural world.

Food for purchase from local craft beer-friendly restaurants and food trucks will also be on site.

A special appearance by Lake Elsinore’s Thunder will take place from 2-4 p.m. in the "family wildlife park" area.

Ticket holders will each receive a commemorative tasting glass for their unlimited 2-ounce beer pours (21 and older).

The festival begins at 1 p.m. for VIP early access and 2 p.m. for general admission, concluding
at 5 p.m. A special sunset happy hour from 5-7 p.m. will follow with a selection of wines and more
craft beers featured at $5 per drink.

General admission cost is $36, and $43 for VIP early access. Admittance for children 12 and under is free; a discounted rate is available for those 13 through 20 years of age. Purchase tickets at www.naturebrewfest.org. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by an adult/parent.

Marna O'Brien Park is located at 20505 Palomar Street.

The Rooted in Nature event is being held in conjunction with the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce as part of the Southwest Riverside County Beer Week that begins Oct. 11. The week includes brewery bus tours to participating breweries and a Brew Masters Golf Tournament on Oct. 15. For more information, visit www.swrccraftbeer.com.
