WILDOMAR, CA—It's kitten season at area pet shelters, and Wildomar's Animal Friends of the Valleys is holding a "Kitten and Puppy Palooza" Saturday, they announced.

The "Kitten and Puppy Palooza" will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at their 33751 Mission Trail, in Wildomar. The shelter is loaded with kittens and puppies looking for their forever homes and available for immediate adoption, they said.

According to their website, the shelter is dedicated to helping lost and homeless animals throughout Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and Wildomar. In mid-May, they are flush with kittens and puppies and in need of supplies.

Recently, a student from the Santa Rosa Academy of Menifee made a generous donation to the shelter, including food, toys, blankets, towels, cleaner and more. The student, identified as Abigale, spearheaded a donation drive for cat and dog food that filled the back of an SUV.

"A massive shoutout to Abigale," a spokesperson for the shelter wrote in a social post, calling her a "community hero."

Of the student and family donation, the shelter had this to say.

"(Abigale's) dedication and generosity truly lit up our shelter," they said. "And to all who contributed, your kindness knows no bounds! Every donation, big or small, makes our furry friends' tails wag with joy. We're endlessly grateful for your support."

According to its website, Animal Friends of the Valleys is committed to promoting humane animal care through education and a proactive animal services program. It is also devoted to preventing animal suffering and ending pet overpopulation. Even with the recent donation, it remained low on certain supplies, including kitty litter.

"Kitten Season is upon us at AFV, and we need supplies!" an Animal Friends spokesperson shared on their Amazon Wish List. "Please feel free to contribute anything that you can either here or in person at the Shelter so that we can continue to care for the lost and homeless animals in our Valleys."
