Lake Elsinore Man Identified In Deadly Temescal Canyon Crash

CHP officials say the man hit a fire hydrant and was ejected from his vehicle.

CORONA, CA — A Southwest Riverside County man was killed in a crash this after veering off a curved road and being thrown from his vehicle, officials said. Coroner's and CHP officials identified him as 26-year-old Jason Garzon of Lake Elsinore.

The crash happened around 2:15 p.m. Monday as Garzon was headed southbound on Temescal Canyon Road, south of Indian Truck Trail, according to California Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Dan Olivas. As he approached a left-leaning curve, he crashed.

"For reasons still under investigation, the Ford continued straight through the curved roadway and traveled onto the dirt shoulder on the west side of the roadway," Olivas said in a news release. "The vehicle collided with a fire hydrant on the shoulder of the roadway."
