Lake Elsinore Resident to Attend “Mardi Gras for Autism"

Fullerton Cares Crosses $100,000 in Donations – 4/6/2019

Lake Elsinore resident Shannon Fillion knows first hand the unique joys and challenges of being a parent to a child with autism and she will be playing a key volunteer role at the FREE Mardi Gras for Autism hosted by Fullerton Cares on Saturday April 6th, 2019, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fullerton Train Depot Parking lot, 110 E. Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton.

When her son, Tyler, was diagnosed with Autism, Fillion sought to find a way to not only help her son, but help other parents like herself. Fillion works for a major utility company along with event work for the non-profit autism organization Generation Rescue.

Mardi Gras for Autism is an inclusive, family-friendly, free event created for families to enjoy while raising money for Fullerton’s special education programs in support of autism awareness. The free event consists of many carnival-themed attractions, including sensory zones that are suited for children of all developmental stages and for children with and without disabilities. Mardi Gras for Autism features a unique sensory zone activity developed by Fullerton Cares professionals, designed for engagement and sensory regulation for people with and without autism.
