LEUSD Students Competing In Riverside County Spelling Bee

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the Riverside County Spelling Bee for the first time since 1978. In 2021 and 2022, the event was held virtually.

But, in 2023, the Riverside County Spelling Bee will be reestablished as an in-person student competition for its 45th anniversary at 9 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center (14075 Frederick Street, Moreno Valley, CA 92553). The event is free and open to the public.

A total of 27 students from Riverside County charter schools, private schools and school districts will compete for a spot in the Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in Maryland from May 28 to June 2, 2023.

In 2022, Corona-Norco Unified School District eighth-grade student Lara Randhawa won for the second consecutive year.
