SIG ALERT: Box Truck Overturns On CA-71, Disrupts 91 Commuter Traffic

Southbound traffic halted near the offramp at the 71 and the 91 connectors after a loaded box truck tipped over, CHP reported.

CHINO HILLS, CA —Freeways were slow and go Friday morning after a box truck overturned Friday morning on the southbound CA-71 in the Chino Hills area. Chain reaction crashes were reported, as were delays on both the westbound 91 and 71 roadways, according to CHP reports.

At 9:30 a.m., slowing was reported after three westbound cars collided just east of the 71 offramps, according to CHP. No injuries have been reported in that collision. Southbound 71 traffic was slow through the CA-83/Butterfield Ranch Road exit, according to CHP reports.

Just after 6 a.m., a fully loaded box truck, heading southbound on the CA-71 just north of the 91 Freeway, tipped over onto its side.

The truck blocked the left lanes, CHP reported. A full lane closure was in effect as tow trucks and salvage vehicles were called to the scene, according to CHP reports.

One man was spotted standing on the right shoulder talking on his phone near the 91 Freeway, a CHP spokesperson said, however, no one was believed to be injured in the incident.
