Stay In A Giant Potato: Farmer Boys Launches Spudtacular Contest

Keep your eyes peeled to enter & maybe score free stay at "Big Idaho Potato Hotel," courtesy of RivCo restaurant with Lake Elsinore locale.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Farmer Boys, the Inland Empire restaurant chain, with a Lake Elsinore location, famed for its burgers, breakfasts and such over-the-top promos as free tattoos, bacon interns and name change for Women's History Month, is at it again - with an anniversary, spuddy-buddy sweepstakes, sleepover in a 6-ton potato.

New and existing "Very Important Farmer" loyalty club members, who purchase "Always Crispy Fries" and scan their receipts Aug. 31 – Nov. 1, will be entered to win two nights at the Big Idaho Potato Hotel in Boise, ID — a 6-ton potato, recycled from Idaho Potato Commission’s Big Idaho Potato Tour and now transformed into lodging.

“We are celebrating our 40th anniversary and the countless memories we’ve created with our loyal guests, team members and franchisees,” said Larry Rusinko, Farmer Boys' vice president. “This milestone is the perfect time to reward Farmer Boys spud buds with a trip to the Big Idaho Potato Hotel.”

Farmer Boys diners also can enter by posting a photo or video to their Instagram feed sharing why they should win, using hashtags: #FarmerBoysSpuddy and #Sweepstakes and mention the account @farmerboysfood, the company added.

The Big Idaho Potato Hotel is posted on Airbnb as a big tater that traveled on the back of a semi to 48 states for seven years, and now operates as a unique inn, "resting on 400 acres of good ol’ Idaho farmland, just south of downtown Boise."

Among the spud-spot amenities: power outlets for electronic devices; mini fridge; fireplace; old records; a custom-built, queen bed; a customized silo turned into a spa retreat; plus a visiting jersey cow.

"This hotel is inimitable and memorable, just like eating at your local Farmer Boys," Rusinko said.

If you win, don't pack your potato masher. (That would be downright un-taterly!) Plus, for those pondering structure safety, the tuber reportedly is re-enforced with steel, plaster, and concrete. Go here for more interior images.
