Truck Hauling Cars Overturns, Makes Mayhem Of I-15 Freeway: CHP

EASTVALE, CA — An overturned truck hauling multiple vehicles wreaked havoc on I-15 through Eastvale Thursday afternoon, California Highway Patrol reported. CHP said that the crash occurred at the westbound Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road connector to southbound I-15, temporarily closing that onramp.

Shortly before 2 p.m., a heavy-duty pickup truck attempted to enter the southbound I-15 freeway, hauling other vehicles on a 50-foot trailer. For unclear reasons, the truck overturned and rolled, damaging the cars it carried. A portion of I-15 and the onramp were closed during the incident, CHP reports.

The agency said that the truck, a Dodge Ram pickup, was hauling a 50-foot trailer carrying three cars when it attempted to turn onto the southbound I-15 entrance ramp. The vehicle then rolled onto its side.

The pickup driver extricated himself, uninjured, the CHP said, and no other motorists were injured as a result of the incident.

"All of the vehicles remained on the overturned trailer, and each sustained various amounts of damage," according to reports from the scene.

CHP officers shut down the ramp, and a SigAlert was issued at 2:30 p.m. to finish cleaning up the closure.

Tow trucks worked to remove the pickup and the three cars, and the roadway was reopened as of 4:45 p.m., according to CHP.
