Yam and Fruit Cupcakes for Baby Gorilla's First Birthday [Video]
Joanne celebrated her birthday with her family at the San Diego Zoo.
Joanne had a rocky start in life, entering the world by emergency C-section. So perhaps that made her first birthday even sweeter.
The still-tiny gorilla celebrated with her family by munching on “cupcakes” made with pureed yams, fruits and vegetables. She also nibbled on some leaves and flowers.
Oh, and the purple, cardboard toy box made for her by a zoo volunteer—like human babies, everything goes in the mouth!
