Man Dies In Perris Skydiving Accident

An Orange County resident died after his parachute failed to open while skydiving in Perris, officials say.

PERRIS, CA — A 65-year-old Lake Forest, skydiving out of Riverside County, died when his parachute failed to open over the weekend, officials said.

On Sunday, midday, Robert Davies crashed onto an empty field near the Perris Valley Airport. Deputies found Davies in the open area at 2901 Goetz Road, south of the airport, and attempted to treat him at the scene. He was pronounced dead a short while later, according to reports.

Davies, originally from Long Branch, New Jersey, studied health at Rutgers University, and psychology at Springfield College, according to his Facebook page. He was the owner of High-Performance Training, Inc. in Lake Forest, and is survived by his wife Jenifer.
