Livermore Among The 20 Safest Suburbs In The US: Study

LIVERMORE, CA — Livermore was one of just four California suburbs that made SmartAsset’s list of the top 20 safest suburbs in the United States.

The financial software company evaluated factors like violent crime rates, property crime, motor vehicle fatalities, drug overdose deaths, and excessive drinking in 360 different suburbs across the country. Livermore ranked 19th in the country, boasting the following statistics:

• Violent crime reported per capita: 0.00232
• Property crime reported per capita: 0.01937
• Motor vehicle crash deaths per 100,000 residents: 6.52
• Percent of adults engaged in excessive drinking: 15.8%

In the Bay Area, Palo Alto ranked 11th, Mountain View ranked 14th, and Pacifica ranked 15th, though their numbers were not markedly different from those of Livermore. The safest suburb was Lehi, Utah, while the 360th least safe was Bernalillo, New Mexico.

For many years, Danville was ranked the safest city in California by both personal finance website MoneyGeek and security consulting website Safewise. Both lists took violent crime and property crime into account.

“Livermore’s impressive safety ranking is a true testament to our strong community bonds and our ongoing partnership,” the Livermore Police Department said in a statement on social media.
“I would like to thank our team for their continued effort and dedication to our mission of public safety,” said Livermore Police Chief Jeramy Young.
