Livermore Schools Recognized For Innovative Pandemic Learning

10 LVJUSD schools were recognized as 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award Program winners by the California Department of Education.

LIVERMORE, CA — Ten schools in the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District were recognized as California Pivotal Practice Award Program winners for innovative practices during the 2020-21 school year, when learning was remote.

"We are tremendously proud of the innovative and creative ways in which our schools have educated through the pandemic,” LVJUSD Superintendent Kelly Bowers said in a statement. “These recognitions highlight their dedication and commitment to providing students with the highest quality educational experience no matter what challenges are put in their way.”

  • Andrew N. Christensen Middle
  • Arroyo Seco Elementary
  • Del Valle Continuation High
  • East Avenue Middle
  • Emma C. Smith Elementary
  • Granada High
  • Junction Avenue K-8
  • Leo R. Croce Elementary
  • Livermore High
  • William Mendenhall Middle

Each school will receive a certificate from the State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond and a 2022 California Pivotal Practice Award Program flag for each awarded school.

“With the support of our Livermore community and our State and Federal partners, we have built back better and are pushing to new heights,” LVJUSD Board President Craig Bueno said in a statement. “Our schools are going through a transformation and these prestigious awards are another step toward excellence,” expressed Craig Bueno, LVJUSD Board President.”
